Squirrels (Gray or Fox)

  • Infants often fall from nests during storms

  • Infants are orphaned during tree removal

  • Infants are orphaned when wildlife companies trap and kill mom

  • Infant squirrels will approach humans and pets in desperation

  • All ages encounter predation (cat/dog/snakes/hawks) and need immediate care

  • Attempt reunification whenever possible (only if NOT injured)

Follow Reunification Steps:

  • Keep warm but not in direct sunlight (can sunburn and dehydrate)

  • Place in a box or basket near the original location

  • Play crying squirrel Youtube video to get mom’s attention

  • Keep pets and children away

  • Observe from a distance

Humane Eviction Methods: The goal is to make the area less desirable.

  • Loud noises (loud radio)

  • Motion activated or strobed bright lights

  • Soaked apple cider vinegar rags or cotton balls - other odors they do not like (peppermint oil, predator urine such as fox, coyote, or human)

  • Repel-All (all natural ingredients and not harmful to children or pets)

  • DO NOT use mothballs (harmful to humans and animals)

DIY exclusion is cheaper and saves lives.
