Bobcats
Bobcats are solitary animals that are typically crepuscular and seldom encountered.
If You Find a Bobcat Kitten
Bobcat kittens are often left alone while their mother hunts nearby. A kitten found alone is not always orphaned.
Observe from a distance.
Keep people and pets away from the area.
If the kitten appears injured, weak, cold, crying continuously, or the mother has not returned after several hours, contact NC Wildlife Rehab immediately at 704-877-3037.
If the Bobcat Is Injured or Sick
Signs may include:
Limping or unable to walk
Visible wounds or bleeding
Hit by a vehicle
Lethargic, unresponsive, or unusually thin
Acting disoriented or abnormal
Important Safety Reminder
Bobcats are wild predators and can be dangerous when frightened or injured. Always use caution and keep safety in mind. If the animal bites you, they will have to be euthanized for rabies testing.
Use thick gloves and a towel
Place in a secured carrier for transport
Keep the animal warm, dark, and quiet
DO NOT use rat poison - the poisoned mouse/rat will kill any animal, including your cat if they consume the poisoned mouse/rat
